Braid, Mono, and Fluro. For my purposes, monofilament is my line of choice for a spinning reel. This is one of those exceptions to the rule "you get what you pay for". Between the major brands of mono lines, I've found Trilene XL to be that line. I have limited line twists and few birds nests since I've stuck to Trilene XL. I have always thought the "XL" stands for extra limp because the line has little memory and resists that annoying line curl found in other lines. Between the Stren and Trilene, the Trilene wins hands down for loading on my spinning reels. I catch a LOT of fish, snag logs, hook heavy weeds, pull in teethy northern pike and this line just doesn't fail me. This 8lb line is good for sunfish, crappies, walleye, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and big northern pike. I have used this line for about 15 years now. I hope they keep making it.
