About Planet Bike
Planet Bike was founded in Madison, Wisconsin, in November of 1996. In many ways, Planet Bike began as a social experiment first and foremost, with a dedication to doing business in a different way. Instead of being just another company that develops and sells products with profit as its end goal, Planet Bike wanted to help bring about positive change for people, their communities, and the environment.
The people at Planet Bike have always believed that the bicycle has great potential to help improve the world and the lives of the people in it. From the start, they have embraced an alternative corporate purpose that seeks to help get more people on bicycles by making communities friendlier places for the self-propelled. By donating 25 percent of company's profits to causes that promote and facilitate bicycle usage, Planet Bike hopes to make an impact.
Social experiments aside, Planet Bike was born from the heart of a cyclist with a goal of making innovative, high quality, and practical bicycle accessories. Simply put, the company strives to design and develop the best bicycle products in the world. In the company's short 10-year history, it has made a number of important product innovations within the bicycle industry. Advancements include the four-line computer, which is now a standard in the industry, and the world's first self-contained HID light. Not bad for a company that started as a one-man operation more than a decade ago. While still a small company, Planet Bike continues to evolve and improve its product line with the goal of always striving to build accessories that make it easier for people to ride their bikes. Since 1996, Planet Bike's financial support of the grassroots bicycle movement has totaled $500,000. By 2010, Planet Bike has made a goal to donate $1 million to organizations that are dedicated to making America a friendlier place for cyclists.

Planet Bike 3040 Superflash Tail Light and Blaze Headlight Light Set Reviews

Well, here's the story. The Superflash tail light is simply incredible. Whether in blink or steady mode, this thing is BRIGHT, even in daytime with direct sunlight. I have two of these Superflash tail lights and motorists can't miss me - in flashing mode you look like an emergency vehicle! The Superflash has survived falling off my bike while riding with only minor scuffs (I failed to clip it in completely - you need to be careful about that). The Blaze headlight is, on the other hand, disappointing. It has a very narrow, focused beam of only moderate brightness. In flashing mode, the beam is way too narrow as a "be seen" light, unless the observer is dead center in front of the beam. I use the Blaze as a spot light supplement to a wider angle headlight, but I would not recommend it as a sole headlight. 12 of 13 people found the following review helpful Not a bad combo for the money, By This review is from: Planet Bike 3040 Superflash Tail Light and Blaze Headlight Light Set (Sports) I needed a new rear blinkie and was just going to get the red super flasher, but I saw the combo and figured why not.The rear blinkie is awesome. I thought it would be margnial given its size, but it's more than sufficiently bright. What I don't like is that I have yet to find a blinkie that I can mount to the bracket on my rear rack. Blinkies only seem to come with seat post mounts and/or clips for going bags. So I came up with a different bracket addition of my own and took the screw and removable thread out of the seat post rack and mounted the light horizantal on my new bracket. Works like a charm although not the most asthetic. Having said that, I found out tonight that Planet Bike makes a bracket for rear racks. So I'll probably get one. whew... The front "Blaze" is a better led flasher than anything the dept stores have as far as flashers go. (I've got one mounted as well so I could compare.) If you need to light the path/road, get something... Also I ride at 4.30am, so when u wake up to find your first choice bike has a flat, swapping over the lights at 4.30am is a pain, frustrating and eats into your ride time. So I decided to invest in a second set of lights. I bought the same set again because they work excellently. There are several stretches of road I use that are unlit and often I will come across a stretch where the lights have gone out for some reason. These lights keep me visible and they illuminate the road so I can see pot holes or debris etc. Definitely consider these lights for your bike!! |
