The two we ordered arrived nicely boxed and in perfect condition. They are lighter weight than I expected but appear sturdy and the storage area inside is large enough for us to store a blanket and throw that we use in the living room when it gets chilly. You could also store magazines and games in there; in fact, we are thinking of using the 2nd one we bought to hide the PlayStation and Wii games and accessories when not in use. The fabric doesn't quite look like leather but it doesn't look like plastic either. It's a good middle ground. In fact, it almost perfectly matches the leather pattern on the office chair in our study. They are nice enough to have in our family room and seem like they will hold up for a while (even with our young sons sitting and resting all over them).
