Bike came, double boxed, very well protected. I was amazed how easily it went together. All the major parts (brakes, shifter, etc) were mounted and pre-adjusted.
The kickstand is aluminum with a nice hard plastic 'foot' on the end. It is more than adequate for supporting the bike and much nicer than some of the black steel ones like you see on Diamondback or Mongoose.
No regrets here!

This is a well packaged and quality manufactured bicycle. I am very handy with tools and mechanically inclined. That being said, the assembly instructions are wholly inadequate and most of the assembly has to be figured out by reverse engineering the final product from pictures. That being said, it took me about 90 minutes to assemble the bike. What I learned in the process would now result in an assembly time of about 30 minutes if I had to do another one.
If you are not mechanically inclined (and I mean it, not just able to use tools, but understand the design of mechanical things) then pay $50-$70 to your local bike shop to assemble this bike. They will asemble the bike, tune the wheel balance and insure the brakes, seat and handlebars are properly adjusted. You will need to do this regardles, so if you can't do those things, don't try and put this together yourself.
All in all, though it is a good sturdy and reliable bike. My 12 year old rides it fast... Read more

just put the bike together last night. Will say I had trouble with handle bar, but the rest went together fairly easy. It was packaged very well. The bike looks awesome. Very clean, none of those crazy kid graphics. I think my 9 yr old will love it come Christmas morning. Not sure on performance since I'm too big to ride it. would recommend for a beginners mountain bike.

My 19 yr. old son requested this bike for Christmas. He is not a serious bike rider, just wanted to be able to go if his friends were going. He liked the seat suspension and the look was acceptable. Shipping was fast but when it arrived, pieces of the bike were poking through the box all around but fortunately nothing was seriously damaged (some scratches tho')so I took it to a bike shop to have it assembled and adjusted for his height and to make sure nothing was missing and they said that if he became more serious about riding he would need a bigger frame (not wheel size) as he is 6'2" tall. They also said it had features a more expensive bike would have. My son said it is a pretty heavy bike but everything works well and he is happy with it so far.

I bought this bike as it seems quite good value for money for just leisure-riding. It's reasonably well-specced for cost (front and rear suspension, brakes are OK, Shimano gears).
What lets it down is (like the other reviewer) the bike was poking holes in the box when it arrived; one of the screws that secures the handlebars had disappeared and I had to go to a hardware shop to replace it. The manual is also rather poor, it looks like they put together a generic manual for every single bike in their product range and you have to work out how it relates to your one. Not only that but the manual is poorly written and diagrammed.
Once assembled I was pretty happy with the bike, I've been riding it every weekend for the last 2 months and not had any real issues. It looks pretty cool hasn't malfunctioned so overall I'm reasonably pleased.

Just started doing some real riding on the Polaris Ranger and had a malfunction. Not really sure what happened, but the derailer started slipping and ended up snapping the chain. I'm kinda of put off by the product, but now I have the need and want to strip it down and make a simpler bike out of it. The handlebars need new grips and a lot of adjustment. The bike definitely needs new pedals out of the box, as the factory ones are very crap. Frame is a little heavy but not horrible. Will definitely need new tires and tubes. Brakes are surprisingly, compared to the rest, o.k. In retrospect, I'm not really angry with my purchase. It is a chinese-made bike. This sort of thing should be expected with any hard riding. If I had the ability to re-do this purchase and find one on craigslist, I would. Decent bikes are on craigslist for this price if not a little more. But I'll live with this.

When a little girl gets too big for a 20" wheeled bike the Tess 24 is the way to go. The heavy duty steel frame will hold up to the trials of childhood while the 40mm suspension fork will make heading down the dirt paths much more fun. Add in both front and rear twist shifters and she will have lots of gears to experiment with. The linear pull front and rear brakes will make stopping easy. Put your little one on a Tess 24 and watch in amazement as she grows - both on and off the bike.

I got this bike for my 9 year old daughter on her birthday. This was really important to us: she's right between the 20" inch and 24" sizes and a lot of the 24" bikes we tried out were a bit too big for her, the 20" ones seemed like she'd only get to ride for the summer before she out gre them. This bike fit perfectly, seat lowered all the way down and she'll be able to grow with it and use it for a long time. This is her first mountain bike, we were looking for quality and value, and I believe this bike has both. The components are all shimano, the seat is very comfortable (according to her) and the bike is sturdy. It's a bit heavy but it's standard for steel frames in this price range. Plus, she won't be doing any jumping just yet. We've been on a few rides already and the bike has managed well. The shifters do their job well. As on ALL new bikes, the cables will loosen in the first couple of months so the derailers will require a bit of tuning, this is normal and should not be... Read more

I bought this bike for my 10 yr. daughter, I did not buy it from Amazon, but form REI, I am very handy with bikes, but they put it together for free, for $180 total, it is a steal. This bike is not light because it has steel frame...standard in this price range. 21 speed Shimano grip shfters and derailler. We rode it now for a year now, seasonal use, no problem at all....For an average handy man, you can put it together within an hour...and please use a bike stand or bike rack when trying to put it together, it is about 40lbs I believe, or put the handelbar first, then put the bike upside down to install the rest of the components..

I bought this bike for my daughters 11th birthday and she really likes it. I comes disassembled, but it is very easy to put together. I put it together in about 15 minutes and it rides perfectly. She has been riding it for about a year now and it has been superb. I don't know why its getting such low ratings. It is easy to put together if you know what your doing. No parts have broke, nor has any parts just fallen off. Just remember to tighten up all the nuts and bolts. This is a nice bike and I would recommended it to anyone wanting a nice quality bike for their daughter.
