Park Tool Deluxe Home Mechanic Repair Stand (100-5D Clamp) Reviews
6 of 7 people found the following review helpful Not so good., By This review is from: Park Tool Deluxe Home Mechanic Repair Stand (100-5D Clamp) (Sports) Since I already have the Park shop stand which has been great, I needed a portable stand to take on trips. I bought the Park PCS-4-2 to use on our downhill bikes and it has been junk so-to-speak compared to our base stand. My Demo 9 is about 42 pounds and this stand can not handle the weight. When the bike is clamped in by the seat post the stand flexes down and the pedal hits the stand making it impossible to turn the cranks without holding the bike up. Also, the rotating head does not have enough friction to hold the front of your bike up. I ride all steel bikes but once in a while I'll work on friend's bikes and they all have carbon so having a micro-adjustable clamp is crucial when clamping delicate carbon frames. Ok, now with the bad... upon pulling the tubes out of the box there was missing paint on some of them due to inadequate packing material. Being heavy metal tubes they no doubt bang around a bit during shipping. This isn't a big deal to me, as long as a stand is rock solid I don't care if it has a few scratches already. The stand itself is... Read more |
