That's because they're built for harsh terrain, where their primary uses are for feet protection and surface adhesion on slippery and unstable footings. While in the process of doing those, these Innsbrucks cradle your feet in a slightly stiff, yet comfortable manner. That's done by the shoes' thin insulation and supportive insoles. In fact, those insoles are the most supportive that I've ever experienced from a shoe manufacturer. Usually, support of that caliber is something I'd have to seek as an aftermarket product. And equally important is the shoes' sizing, because the fit feels custom-made. The rest of the components are made from high-quality, rugged materials. I bought a cheap pair of a similar shoe by another company and I was like Hans Brinker on every slippery or wet surface I walked on. Merrell is a recognized name when it comes to quality. I firmly believe that Merrell puts added value in their products that you cannot see initially in the price. |
